Life is so funny. You never know when grief will hit you. Something as simple as watching someone else tend to their love one can affect you.
I was eating in my favorite diner watching this woman help her elderly father put on his coat. I said to the woman “you are such a blessing” and she told me that her dad was such a good guy. As I continued to watch her fuss over him, the tears began to flow from my eyes uncontrollably.
I inwardly laughed to myself because I had to go to the register and pay for my food and I didn’t want the cashier to see my blood shot eyes.
Brothers and Sisters, it was my greatest pleasure to care for my grandfather.
Being a caretaker can be difficult but at the same time, rewarding. If I had to do it again, I definitely would.
